Which provider pays the most Kenyan shillings?
It depends on where you send from, and it changes. In CheckRate's records for the last 120 days (only days with at least three providers, Wise and promotional rates excluded), from Canada (CAD), Pesa had the highest standard rate on 42 of 75 days; from the UK (GBP), Sendwave had the highest standard rate on 53 of 75 days; from the US (USD), Sendwave had the highest standard rate on 63 of 75 days; from Europe (EUR), Pesa had the highest standard rate on 48 of 75 days. A transfer fee can change the order, so compare the amount received on the day you send.
Is there a limit on M-PESA transfers to Kenya?
Yes. Safaricom's published limits are KES 250,000 per transaction and KES 500,000 per day, with a maximum M-PESA balance of KES 500,000. Taptap Send, LemFi, Sendwave, Remitly and WorldRemit all list M-PESA on their own Kenya pages. For amounts above these limits, send to a bank account.
Can I pay a Paybill or Till number in Kenya?
Taptap Send's Kenya help page (updated 8 October 2026) lists M-PESA Paybill and Till numbers as well as M-PESA, Airtel Money and bank accounts. For other providers, check the recipient options in the app.
Why do providers pay different amounts for the same transfer?
Each provider sets its own exchange rate, which is usually below the mid-market rate, and some add a transfer fee. CheckRate shows the estimated amount received after the fee we have on record, so you can compare like with like. The provider's app shows the final figure before you confirm.
