Privacy Policy

CheckRate (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates checkrate.net(the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What We Collect

CheckRate is a read-only comparison tool. We do not require account registration and do not process any financial transactions. The data we collect is limited to:

• Usage data: pages visited, corridors or providers viewed, time on page, browser type, and approximate location (country level). Collected through the analytics services listed in section 4.
• Outbound clicks: when you click a provider link, we record that the click happened. We do not track what you do on the provider's website.
• Contact form submissions: if you contact us via email or a future contact form, we store your name, email address, and message content.
• Rate alerts: if you ask us to email you when a rate reaches a target, we store your email address, the currency pair and the target rate. We ask you to confirm the request by email before the alert becomes active.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To improve the Platform and understand which corridors and providers are most useful.
• To detect and prevent abuse or automated scraping of rate data.
• To respond to support enquiries.
• To send the rate alert you asked for. Alert emails are delivered through an email delivery provider (see section 4), which receives your email address for that purpose only. We do not use it for marketing.
• To show advertising, which helps keep the Platform free to use.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Cookies, Browser Storage and Advertising

The Platform and the services it uses store small pieces of data in your browser:

• Preferences: we use your browser's local storage to remember the currency pair you last compared and whether you dismissed a prompt. This stays on your device and is not sent to us.
• Analytics: Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visitors and measure how the Platform is used.
• Advertising: we use Google AdSense to show advertising. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.

You can turn off personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of personalised advertising from many other ad networks at aboutads.info/choices. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the comparison tool continues to work without them.

4. Third-Party Services and Links

We rely on the following services, each of which processes data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Analytics: usage measurement.
• Google AdSense: advertising.
• Vercel: website hosting, performance measurement and aggregate visit statistics.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics: aggregate visit statistics without cookies.
• Supabase: database hosting for exchange-rate data and rate alert details.
• Resend: delivery of rate alert emails.

CheckRate also contains links to third-party remittance providers (Lemfi, Taptap Send, Sendwave, Remitly, Wise, Remitbee, Pesa, WorldRemit, and others). These are plain links to their public websites; we do not earn a commission from them. These companies operate under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

5. Data Retention

Usage data is retained for up to 24 months. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months unless required longer by law. Rate alert details are kept while the alert is waiting and as a record that it was sent or stopped; every alert email includes a link to stop it, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@checkrate.net.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
