Remitly Overview
Remitly is a large money transfer company based in Seattle. CheckRate tracks its standard (Economy) rate from Canada, the UK, the US and Europe to thirteen destination currencies. Some routes showed no transfer fee in our records and others showed one, up to 6.99 Canadian dollars. New customers are often offered a better promotional rate on the first transfer, which CheckRate shows separately where available and leaves out of its rate summaries.
In our records Remitly paid the euro peg rate for euros to CFA francs on every day, and often had the highest standard rate for Canadian dollars to leones (60 of 75 days) and to West African CFA francs from pounds and US dollars. From Canada, the UK and the US to Ghana it had the lowest standard rate on nearly every day.

When we checked (9 to 11 October 2026): Remitly Canada, Inc. is registered with FINTRAC (M15481516) and on the Bank of Canada's payment service provider register; Remitly U.K., Ltd is an FCA authorised electronic money institution (FRN 1047222); and Remitly, Inc. is listed in FinCEN's money services business search. We have not yet checked its US state licences on NMLS.
What is Remitly's promotional rate?
Remitly often offers new customers a better rate on their first transfer. CheckRate shows it separately where it is available, and leaves it out of the rate summaries on corridor pages because it applies only once. After that, the standard rate applies.
Does Remitly charge a transfer fee?
On some routes. In CheckRate's latest records Remitly's Economy option showed no fee on several routes and fees on others, up to 6.99 Canadian dollars (for example Canada to Sierra Leone or Zambia). The table works out the amount received after the fee we have on record.
